DOVER, DE --The Towson Tigers proved to be too much for Delaware State on this particular day, as the Hornets lost 4-2 on Wednesday.
Freshman Kristin White (0-0) started and took the loss in the circle for Delaware State (6-9).
In the batter's box, the Hornets were paced by sophomore Chandler Martin, who went 1-for-1 on the day with a double and an RBI. Sophomore Laila Hasan furnished a noteworthy day at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 2-0, the Hornets first put runs on the board in the fifth inning. Hasan came across to score the lone run of the inning for Delaware State and get them on the board.
The Hornets deficit grew to 4-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard, cutting into that deficit in the seventh inning. Delaware State pushed across a run on Martin's two-out RBI double, which tightened the Tigers lead to 4-2. The Hornets were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame. Martin led the Hornets at the plate, going 1-for-1 with a double and an RBI. Towson was led offensively by sophomore Ferguson, who went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
