NEWARK, DE --The Delaware State women's basketball team got an 11-point showing from the bench, but fell 73-26 to the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens on the road Saturday.
Ericka Huggins led the Hornets (3-6) with four points, eight rebounds and three steals. Brooke Barnes also added two points off the bench and McKenzie Stewart chipped in as well with two steals.
The Delaware State defense caused its share of mistakes in Saturday's game, forcing 15 Delaware turnovers. Those takeaways turned into three points on the offensive end of the floor. Huggins' three steals led the way individually for the Hornets.

How It Happened
Delaware State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 16-2 at the end of the first quarter.
The Hornets continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 39-10 halftime deficit.
Delaware State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Hornets faced a 56-17 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Delaware State played well near the basket, scoring four of its seven points in the paint.
Delaware State could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 73-26. Delaware State took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring six of its nine points in the paint.
