DOVER, DE --The Delaware State volleyball team racked up 12 blocks on the way to a 3-0 win (27-25, 25-22, 25-18) against the Coppin State Lady Eagles Saturday on the road at Memorial Hall.
The non-conference win improved Delaware State's overall record to 16-13 on the season.
The Hornets were led by a double-double from Valeria Otero, who registered 10 kills and 11 digs on the day. Gerren Tomlin also added 12 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Morgan Allen chipped in for with 12 digs to go with eight blocks from Aaliyah Mitchell.

SET 1 | The Hornets came out on top of a close first set, winning 27-25 in a stanza that was tied five times and had three lead changes. got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked seven Coppin State attacks in the stanza.
SET 2 | Delaware State won the second set 25-22 to quickly take a 2-0 lead. An impressive defensive showing helped the Hornets, who totaled 12 blocks in the set win. After the lead changed hands one time, the Hornets took control for good at 10-9 and rode that advantage to victory.
SET 3 | Delaware State then ended the match with a victory in set number three. The Hornets won the set 25-18. Delaware State took the lead for good at 9-8 in a set that had just one lead change before the Hornets took over the lead.
