DOVER, DE --Gerren Tomlin and Valeria Otero each notched double-doubles to help lead the Delaware State volleyball team to a 3-1 win (24-26, 25-15, 25-20, 25-23) against the North Carolina Central Eagles Friday at home at Memorial Hall.
The non-conference win improved Delaware State's overall record to 15-13 on the season.
The Hornets were led by the double-doubles from Otero, who had 14 kills and 10 digs, and Tomlin, who had 17 kills and 17 digs. Martyna Kmuk added 10 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Naz Tuncay chipped in for with 15 digs to go with five blocks from Aaliyah Mitchell.

SET 1 | The Hornets fell in a back-and-forth first set, losing 26-24 in a game that featured six lead changes and was tied 14 times. Neither team led by more than three points in the match.
SET 2 | Delaware State responded to pick up a 25-15 victory in the second set, evening the match at one set apiece. The Hornets scored first and never trailed in the set to earn the victory. Delaware State opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 10 points, to finish off the set, collecting 15 kills in the process. The Hornets hit .407 over the course of the set. Delaware State's front row had a standout defensive performance, blocking eight North Carolina Central attacks in the stanza.
SET 3 | Delaware State grabbed another win in set three to go up two sets to one. The Hornets the set the third set 25-20. Delaware State took the lead for good at 14-13 in a set that featured 10 ties and six lead changes.
SET 4 | Delaware State earned a match win with a 25-23 fourth-set victory, winning their third straight set. The Hornets took the lead for good at 22-21 in a set that had just one lead change before the Hornets took over in the second half of the stanza. Delaware State also supplemented their offense with three aces in the set. Delaware State got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four North Carolina Central attacks in the stanza.
