PITTSBURGH, PA --The Delaware State women's basketball team got a 15-point performance from the bench, but fell 80-45 to the Pittsburgh Panthers on the road Wednesday.
Mahogany Cottingham led the Hornets (2-4) with 11 points. McKenzie Stewart also tacked on eight points and six rebounds and Najah Lane helped out with seven points and four assists.

How It Happened
Delaware State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 20-14 at the end of the first quarter.
Delaware State then cut the Panthers lead to 22-17 before going on a 5-0 run, highlighted by a bucket from Kyra Lawrence, to tie the game at 22. Pittsburgh then took control, putting the Hornets at a 35-27 disadvantage heading into halftime.
Delaware State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Hornets faced a 60-33 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Delaware State played well near the basket, scoring four of its six points in the paint.
Pittsburgh kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 71-38 advantage before Delaware State went on a 5-0 run, finished off by Kiarra McElrath's three, to shrink the deficit to 71-43 with 4:09 to go in the contest. Pittsburgh responded and outscored the Hornets the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 80-45. Delaware State fired away from deep in the quarter, knocking down two shots to account for six of its 12 points.
