DOVER, DE --The Delaware State volleyball team got the job done in three sets (25-18, 25-21, 25-16) to knock off the Maryland-Eastern Shore Lady Hawks Friday at home at Memorial Hall.
The conference victory improved Delaware State's record to 14-13 overall and 10-4 in MEAC play.
Gerren Tomlin finished with 13 kills on the day to lead the Hornets offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .286.Paige Ahakuelo also pitched in with five in the contest. got eight digs from Tomlin to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Hornets jumped out to an early lead, easily winning the first set 25-18. Delaware State never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Hornets took over the lead.
SET 2 | Delaware State built on a set-one win by securing a 25-21 victory in set number two. Pinpoint serving helped the Hornets grab the set win. Delaware State recorded six aces in the set win. The Hornets rallied from down six at 9-3 to grab the win.
SET 3 | Delaware State took set three to finish the match in a 3-0 sweep. The Hornets took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the set to secure a 25-16 victory. Delaware State opened up as much as a 10 point lead at 24-14 before closing out the set. The Delaware State offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.
