DOVER --The Delaware State volleyball team needed only three sets (25-18, 25-15, 25-23) to defeat the South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs Sunday at home at Memorial Hall.
The conference win improved Delaware State's record to 8-11 overall and 4-2 in MEAC play.
Aaliyah Mitchell finished with eight kills on the day to lead the Hornets attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .294. got 8 digs from Emma Crakow to lead them defensively.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Hornets won the first point and never trailed to win the first set 25-18. Delaware State opened up its biggest lead, seven points, to finish off the set.
SET 2 | Delaware State built on a set-one win by earning a 25-15 victory in the second set. The Hornets took control of the set lead early on at 2-1 and never trailed. Delaware State opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 10 points, to close out the set.
SET 3 | Delaware State finished off the match in a 3-0 sweep after grabbing set three. The Hornets persevered in a back-and-forth set to win 25-23 in a stanza that featured seven lead changes and was tied 13 times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than four points along the way.
