NORFOLK, Va. --- The Delaware State men's track & field team completed the third and final day of the 2023 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

As a team, Delaware State finished in third place with a total of 97 points even.

Sophomore pole vaulter
Peter Kamanu completed the individual event championship sweep after winning the pole vault event topping out at a height of 4.50 meters (14 feet, 9 inches).
Alonzo Sims, Jr. claimed his first-ever MEAC medal after winning the 400-Meter Hurdles with a time of 52.57 seconds.

Tayshaun Chisholm claimed the silver medal in the 110-Meter Hurdles after running a time of 13.65 seconds

In the short distance,
Jalen Booth-Mitchell took the seventh spot in the 100-Meter Dash with a time of 10.84 seconds while
Andre Carr, Jr. took the eighth spot after turning in a time of 13.54 seconds.

Distance running specialist
Devin Smith tallied two top-eight finishes after placing fourth in the 1500-Meter Run (3:58.67) and eighth in the 800-Meter Run (1:58.03).

Jalen Booth-Mitchell took fifth place in the 4 x 100 Meter Relay after running a time of 40.84 seconds while the team of
Tayshaun Chisholm,
Alonzo Sims, Jr.,
Elijah Brown and
Jaden Shelton placed eighth in the 4 x 400 Meter Relay with a time of 3:30.69.

Jaden Shelton took part in the only throwing event on the day which was the Javelin Throw and came in fourth after recording a distance of 50.93 meters (167 feet, 1 inch) while
Jalen Jasmin took eighth in the Long Jump landing a launch of 6.69 meters (21 feet, 11.5 inches).
