NORFOLK, Va. --- The Delaware State men's track & field team took part in the second day of the 2023 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Norfolk State University.
 
After two complete days and eight scored events, the Hornets currently sit in fourth place with 42 points even.
 
Dyson Coley took fourth place in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase after running a time of 11:04.48 while Jalen Jasmin placed eighth in the Long Jump after landing a final distance of 6.69 meters (21 feet, 11.5 inches).
 
Throwers Tyrell Martin and Christopher Johnson ranked second and third in the Shot Put with respective distances of 16.63 meters (54 feet, 6.75 inches) and 16.10 meters (52 feet, 10 inches).
 
Short-distance runners Andre Carr, Jr. and Jalen Booth Mitchell qualified to compete in the finals of the 100-Meter Dash after coming in fifth and seventh respectively during the preliminary rounds.
 
Emperor Campbell took sixth place in the Hammer Throw after he recorded a distance of 46.14 meters (151 feet, 4 inches).
 
Distance specialist Devin Smith will compete in the finals of the 800-Meter Run after running a time of 1:56.82 to place sixth during the preliminary rounds.
 
Senior hurdler Tayshaun Chisholm will continue his quest for gold in the 100-Meter Hurdles after turning in a second-place time of 13.88 seconds to earn a spot in the finals.
 
Day three of the MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships will get underway at 10 a.m. with the triple jump while the running events are slated to start at 1 p.m. Live coverage links for the final day of action can be found below.
