LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. --- The Delaware State baseball team visited Rider University for its midweek matchup and fell in the nonconference contest 5-1.

As the Hornets and Broncos battled in the early innings of the game, catcher
Robert Trujillo broke open the scoreless tie to start the fifth inning with a solo home run over the right field wall for Delaware State's only lead of the afternoon.

Rider responded in the bottom half of the inning with a two-RBI single and an RBI-double for a 3-1 Broncs lead after five complete innings. Rider added two runs of insurance in the bottom of the eighth to secure the home win.

Offensively,
Trey Paige and
Jancarlos Colon joined Trujillo in the hit column while
Krew Bouldin drew a game-high three walks.

Delaware State returns to Northeast Conference (NEC) competition this weekend for a three-game road series at Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU). The series is currently slated to open on Friday with a first pitch time of 3 p.m.
