Bond, Kamanu tally top-five finishes on Day One of Weems Baskin Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. --- Delaware State men's and women's track & field teams began the Weems Baskin Invitational hosted by University of South Carolina with a few top-five finishes.
 
The reigning 2022-23 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Indoor Track & Field Champion pole vaulting duo of Annalise Bond and Peter Kamanu recorded top-five finishes to start the 2023 outdoor track and field season.
 
Kamanu took second place in the men's pole vault with a height of 4.40 meters while Bond recorded a height of 3.40 meters to rank her third in the women's pole vault.
 
Catherine Glenn notched a top-five finish of her own on day one in the women's long jump. Glenn launched a final distance of 5.52 meters to sit in second place and was joined in the top-eight finishers by teammate Sierra Romaine who finished eighth with a distance of 5.36 meters.
 
Delaware State track and field teams will resume day two action tomorrow. Day one results are linked above with a full story to come tomorrow after day two results have been finalized.
