Dover, Del. (Feb. 27, 2023) –Delaware State University Director of Athletics Alecia Shields-Gadson recently shared her thoughts on diversity within college athletics administration during the recent NCAA Convention. Shields-Gadson was a featured guest during an online interview with Taj M. Brown for ADU (Athletics Director U).
She was appointed by Delaware State University President Dr. Tony Allen as the university's Director of Intercollegiate Athletics in August 2021. Shields-Gadson previously served in the post in an interim capacity. She was appointed to a four-year term as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Council beginning June 1, 2022. As a member of the NCAA leadership post, Shields-Gadson has a key role in advancing the association's mission, traditions, values and reputation, in addition to serving as an advocate for the organization. Shields-Gadson joined the Delaware State staff as Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Compliance and Senior Woman Administrator in 2016.
