Martaz Robinson scored a career-high 28 points, including two free throws with 8.2 seconds left to lead Delaware State to a 69-68 victory over South Carolina State before an energetic Memorial Hall crowd this evening. The Hornets snapped a three-game losing, while sweeping the season series against the Bulldogs to improve to 6-20 overall and 4-7 in the MEAC. Robinson was 10-for-16 from the field, including a career-best five-of-five on three-point shots, while hitting three free throws on four attempts to eclipse his previous career-high of 24 points vs. Maryland-Eastern Shore on Jan. 14 of this year. The regular season sweep of South Carolina State was the first by the Hornets against any opponent since taking two against North Carolina A&T during the 2016-17 season.

O'Koye Parker came off the bench to add 14 points, while
Kyle Johnson also came off the bench to record his first Delaware State double-double with 11 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
Raquan Brown and Cameron Jones were high scorers for South Carolina State with 14 points each.
The back-and-forth contest featured 13 lead changes and nine ties.
The score was tied at 31 at the break.
Delaware State began to pull away in the second half, opening up a 50-41 lead on a three-pointer by
Cameron Stitt with 12:41 left to play. The Bulldogs clawed their way back into the game over the next eight minutes and led for the first time in the second half, 59-57, after a lay up by Rakeim Gary at the 4:58 mark of the second half.
The lead changed hands five times in the last minute-and-a-half. The Bulldogs grabbed their final lead, 68-67, on lay up by Jones with 37 second left to play. Robinson scoring the tying and go-ahead points after being fouled on the ensuing Delaware State possession.
Robinson's perfect three-point shooting (5-for-5) highlighted a nine-for-17 performance (52.9%) from beyond the arc by the Hornets, who failed to hit a three-pointer on 16 attempts vs. North Carolina Central in their previous game.
Robinson has reached double-figures in scoring in 11 of the last 13 games to improve his season average to 11.2 points per game.
Delaware State's six wins this season are its most since posting a 6-26 mark during the 2019-20 campaign.
The Hornets are back in action on Saturday (Feb. 25) at Morgan State. Game time is 4:00 p.m. in Baltimore, Md. The next home game is Feb. 27 against Coppin State (7:30 p.m.).
