Big Games from Tollie, Perkins-Jackson and Brooks Not Enough to Top Baylor

WACO, TX --Tyshonne Tollie, Ja-Naiah Perkins-Jackson and Savannah Brooks combined to score 29 of Delaware State's 37 total points, but the Hornets fell to the Baylor Bears 99-37 on the road Thursday.

The Hornets (2-8) had two players score in double figures, led by Tollie, who had 10 points. Perkins-Jackson added 10 points from the bench and Brooks added nine points and three steals.

Delaware State forced 14 Baylor turnovers. The Hornets turned those takeaways into six points on the offensive end of the floor. Brooks' three steals led the way for Delaware State.

How It Happened

Delaware State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 21-11 at the end of the first quarter.

The Hornets continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 37-17 halftime deficit.

Delaware State's deficit continued to grow after halftime, and the Hornets faced a 66-28 disadvantage heading to the fourth quarter. Delaware State's bench made the most of its minutes in the period, as non-starters totaled three of the team's 11 third-quarter points.

Delaware State could not pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 99-37. The Hornets put on a passing clinic, recording an assist on 67 percent of made field goals.
