WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Delaware State women's basketball team opened Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) competition with a 51-49 loss to Howard University on Saturday.

The Hornets were led offensively by
Savannah Brooks and
Jessica Martino who each scored a team-best 10 points. Martino finished the game with a double-double after hauling in a game-best 11 rebounds while also tying for a game-high two blocks.

The Bison were powered by Brooklyn Fort-Davis who led all scorers with 19 points while also coming away with nine rebounds. Aziah Hudson chipped in with 15 points of her own including knocking down a game-high three three-point shots.Â

Delaware State continues with MEAC action on Monday when Norfolk State makes the trip up to Dover, Delaware. Tipoff from Memorial Hall is currently scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
