THE GAME
Delaware State plays the second of three straight home games by hosting Merrimack of the Northeast Conference. Delaware State second-string quarterback
C.J. Henry (r-fr.; Newark, Del.) played more than three quarters of the game, connecting on nine-of-14 passes for 115 yards and three touchdowns. Henry was selected as the MEAC Rookie of the Week for his performance in the contest.
Defensively, the Hornets recorded four sacks for the second week in a row, while recovering a season-high three fumbles. Lineman
Isaiah Williams (sr.; Brooklyn, N.Y.) and linebacker
Ronald Holmes (so., Darby, Pa.) shared the team lead with six tackles each. Williams had a team-high 2.5 tackles for loss and a forced fumble.
THE SERIES (MERRIMACK leads 2-0)
This is the third meeting between the Hornets and Warriors. Merrimack took the first two contests, winning 30-21 in the first meeting in 2019, and 47-10 in 2021. In the 2021 meeting, the Hornets led 10-0 before the Warriors scored the last 47 points. In the 2019 meeting, Delaware State held leads of 7-0, 14-7 and 21-14 before stalling.
