MORGANTOWN, W.Va. --- The Delaware State women's volleyball team added two more wins to its streak with a 3-2 victory over Binghamton and a straight-set victory over Merrimack on day one of the Mountaineer Invitational hosted by West Virginia University.

Offensively, Delaware State had four Hornets with 10 or more kills, led by
Valeria Otero, who tied a match-high with 20.
Alondra Maldonado finished with 16 kills and two assisted blocks giving her 17 points in game one.
Karen Cordero and
Sydney Lewis chipped in with 13 and 10 respectively.

The Hornets had three setters record double-digit assists with
Malgorzata Andersohn leading the way with a season-best 31 while
Alayna Lacy and
Naz Tuncay finished with 18 and 12 respectively. Andersohn also landed a pair of service aces with four other Hornets recording one for a team total six in the match.

Defensively, Lewis found herself in on two assisted blocks while libero
Jasmal Cruz dug the Hornets out of 15 Bearcats' attack attempts. Otero and Cordero both recorded double-digit digs giving them each a double-double performance in the win.

Maldonado led the offensive charge in game two with a game-high 10 kills. With four assisted blocks, she finished the match with 12 total points. Cordero notched seven kills and tied for a team-best three service aces giving her 10 points in the win. Â

Andersohn recorded 22 assists against Merrimack marking her sixth and seventh games this season with at least 20 assists. She also landed three service aces giving her five total between both matches.

Defensively, Lewis notched a solo block and was apart of four assisted blocks for five total in the game. Cruz and Otero each dug the Hornets out of eight Warriors' attack attempts and preserving the day one sweep. As a team, the Hornets held the Warriors to a .026 hitting percentage and only allowing Merrimack to score 20 points once which came in set two.

Delaware State will conclude the Mountaineer Invitational tomorrow against the tournament host West Virginia. First serve from the WVU Coliseum is scheduled for 6 p.m. Â
