Dover, Del. (July 20, 2022) --- Delaware State University will serve as host for two Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championships this fall.
The MEAC has announced that its 2022 women's and men's cross country championship races are set for  Saturday, Oct. 29 at Delaware State's Outreach and Research Center course in Smyrna.
This will be the seventh time that Delaware State has hosted the event, which was held at the Smyrna course for six straight years from 2014 to 2019.
The MEAC Cross Country Championship was not held in 2020 due to Covid-19 and the event was hosted by North Carolina Central in 2021.
Delaware State will host the  MEAC Volleyball Championship for the first time this year. The eight-team single-elimination tournament is scheduled for Nov. 18-20 in Memorial Hall on the DSU campus.
The event was hosted by Howard University in Washington, D.C., in three of the last four years, including 2021. Last season, Howard won its sixth MEAC championship in the last seven years, and 13^th overall, defeating Delaware State 3-1 In the Nation's Capital. The Hornets and Bison shared the 2021 MEAC regular season title.
The MEAC volleyball champion receives an automatic spot in the NCAA championship tournament.

"In addition to showcasing exciting Division I athletics competition, the events will provide a great opportunity to highlight our outstanding university and the growing Central Delaware region.
