Dover, Del. (Mar. 26, 2022) --- Wofford scored three goals in the first four minutes and never looked back in a 20-9 win over Delaware State at Alumni Stadium this afternoon.
Eight players tallied at least one goal for the Terriers. Elisabeth Ralph led the way with five scores and Carly Irvin four, while Leah Hurley and Emma Krasinski notched three each.
Mica Lambert, Rosella Nardi,
Emmy McGill and
Nahkaleigh Hayes-Jones scored two goals each for the Hornets.
Ralph and Krasinski each scored in the first two minutes, and Irvin found the net at the 11:09 mark of the opening period to give the Terriers a 3-0 lead.
Lambert scored Delaware State's first goal with 10:12 left in the quarter and Nardi struck for the first time in the game to cut Wofford's lead to 4-2.
The Hornets trailed 6-3 after the opening period.
Delaware State was outscored 7-2 in the second period to trail 13-5 at the break. The Terriers scored the first six goals in the period to stretch their lead.
Wofford fired off 35 shots in the game, while the Hornets tallied 19.
Delaware State returns to action next Saturday (Apr. 2) at Liberty. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m. in Lynchburg, Va.
