Lynchburg, Va. (Apr. 2, 2022) --- Liberty led by nine goals after the first period and never looked back in a 22-5 women's Lacrosse victory over Delaware State today.
A total of 15 players scored at least one goal for the Flames, led by Macke Lehman and Brooke Bryan with three each.
Mica Lambert and
Mayerlin Santos tallied two goals each, while
Dasia McQueen scored once for the Hornets.
Liberty scored three goals in the first three minutes before Lambert put Delaware State on the board with a goal at the 11:40 mark of the opening period.
The Flames scored the last seven goals in opening period to hold a 10-1 lead after 15 minutes.
Liberty opened the second period with three goals to pull ahead 13-1.
Delaware State scored the last three goals of the second period to cut the Flames' lead to 13-4.
The teams played even in the second period, scoring three goals each.
The Hornets were outscored 9-1 in the second half.
Delaware State returns to action next Sat. (Apr. 9) at home for their 2022 ASUN opener against Coastal Carolina. The game is set to begin at 10:30 a.m. at Alumni Stadium.
