SALISBURY, Md. --- The Delaware State baseball team split a pair of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) games with the Hawks of University of Maryland Eastern Shore on Friday.

The Hawks took game one by a score of 15-0, powered by an eight-run first inning.
Â
The Hornets mustered only three hits in the matinee coming from
Miguel Rivera,
Krew Bouldin and
Brady Daniels.
Â
Delaware State rallied back in the night cap for a 5-4 win.
Alan Alonso got the Hornets on the board early by way of his third home run of the season, scoring
Trey Paige for a 2-0 advantage in the top of the first inning.

Maryland Eastern Shore scored four unanswered runs to go up 4-2 through four complete innings at Perdue Stadium.

Alec Rodriguez trimmed the lead in half in the top of the sixth via a sacrifice fly that brought home Alonso to put the game at 4-3.

Paige tied the game one inning later with an RBI-single that scored Rivera, making the contest even at 4 in the top of the seventh.

Rodriguez recorded the game-winning run with an RBI-single of his own, scoring
Tre'Zhan Selby and stealing a road win.

C.J. Loper shut the door on a Hawks' comeback and picked up his first win of the season after pitching three innings of relief. He struck out three batters, surrendered only two walks but did not allow a hit or run during his outing on the mound. Â

Alonso and Rodriguez powered the Hornets' victory with a pair of RBI's each. Bouldin joined Alonso, Paige, Rivera and Rodriguez in the hit column.

Delaware State and Maryland Eastern Shore will continue the MEAC series tomorrow with another doubleheader. First pitch from Perdue Stadium in Salisbury, Maryland is now scheduled for 1 p.m.
