Dover, Del. (Mar. 13, 2022) --- Delaware State played even with Presbyterian in the final 30 minutes, but it was not enough to overcome an eight goal first half deficit in a 15-7 loss to Presbyterian at Alumni Stadium today.
Abby Edminsten scored five goals to lead the Blue Hose, who improved to 2-4 this season.
Emily McGill came off the bench to lead the Hornets with two goals to give her a team-high seven for the season.
Presbyterian scored nine of the first 10 goals, including Edminsten's five, to take control of the game. Her fifth goal gave the Blue Hose a 9-1 lead with 3:16 left in the second period.
Delaware State pulled to within 9-2 on
Catherine Bennet's first career goal with 2:14 to go before halftime.
Presbyterian led 10-2 at the break.
Delaware State scored four of the first six goals in the second half, and cut the deficit to six (12-6) on a goal by
Nahkaleigh Hayes-Jones' first goal of the season with 5:20 left to play.

Brianne Johanson also tallied her first career goal for the Hornets in the first period and
Madalyn Richardson scored her first at Delaware State in the fourth period … the Hornets outscored Presbyterian 1-0 in the third period … the Hornets return to action this Friday (Mar. 18) at home against Howard (7:00 p.m.).
