BALTIMORE, Md. --- The Delaware State women's volleyball team claimed a 3-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) road win over the Bears of Morgan State on Tuesday.
With the win tonight, Delaware State records its second-straight 20-win season. This win also marks the second consecutive year that the Hornets have recorded at least 10 wins in MEAC competition

Dr. Bruce Atkinson was asked postgame about the significance of a second-straight 20-win season and stated, "I think it shows that the program is evolving and it's a testament to the players we have because they're playing at such a high level and doing their part to help bring in new players at an increasing rate. I think the team is progressing and I think we can take the momentum that we have now at the end of the season and carry that into the tournament."
The Hornets were led tonight offensively by
Karen Cordero and
Alondra Maldonado who totaled 10 points each. Cordero notched seven kills and a match-high three service aces. With her three service aces tonight, she collected her 12th game this season and fourth in a row with two or more service aces. Maldonado landed a game-best 10 kills on 14 total attacks and with no errors, she finished with a .714 hitting percentage in the win.
Kelsie Dawson,
Sydney Lewis and
Julia Kneba all chipped in with six kills apiece. Dawson was a force defensively in the win as she handed out a match-high three solo blocks and finished the night with nine total points. Lewis and Kneba both registered an assisted block for a total of 6.5 points each.
Malgorzata Andersohn passed out a game-high 24 assists and ensuring everyone on the court had a chance to contribute.
Delaware State returns to Memorial Hall on Friday for the 2022 regular season finale for a MEAC matchup with University of Maryland Eastern Shore. First serve is currently scheduled for 6 p.m. with a special senior day ceremony to occur before first serve.
