Delaware State claim third place at MEAC Championship Race

SMYRNA, Del. --- The Delaware State women's cross country team competed in the 2022 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship Race on Saturday.
 
As a team, Delaware State finished third only behind the Spartans of Norfolk State and the 2022 MEAC Women's Cross Country Champion Howard Bison.
 
The Hornets finished two spots higher as compared to the fifth-place finish from one year ago. With an average finish time of 20:02, Maria Garcia Rabgo paced Delaware State with her individual seventh-place finish after clocking a time of 19:24.4.
 
Ava Larkin, Elenora Pierre, Ashley Lagat, Jadyn Comer and Danielle Fleurima all joined Garcia Rabago in finishing in the top half of the 50-runn er race to help Delaware State to its third-place finish.
 
Larkin finished 12 th with a final time of 19:45.1. Pierre turned in a time of 20:04.3 for a 14 th place finish while Lagat crossed the line just behind her in 15 th with a time of 20:07.2.
 
Comer recorded a time of 20:47.5 to finish in 21 st with Fleurima coming in 23 rd with a time of 21:03.4.
 
Garcia Rabago, Larkin, Pierre and Lagat all earned All-MEAC honors for their finishes. Outstanding Performer honors went to Norfolk State's Mercyline Kimayio while the honor of Outstanding Coach went to Howard's Wesley Stephens.
