SMYRNA, Del. --- The Delaware State men's cross country team competed in the 2022 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship Race on Saturday.
 
As a team, Delaware State finished third only behind the Bison of Howard University who placed second and the Spartans of Norfolk State University who claimed the MEAC Championship for the third-straight year and 15th time overall.
 
The Hornets' average finisher clocked 27:51 led by sophomore Devin Smith who finished in fifth place with a final time of 26:14.3. With his finish today, this becomes Smith's fourth top-five finish of the 2022 season and was a higher finish as compared to last year when he came in eighth.  
 
Mosa Aboeid, Bryant Adams, Jr. and Ezekiel Dawkins all finished in the top half of the 50-runner field to ensure Delaware State's third-place finish.
 
Aboeid finished in 11th place with a final time of 27:01.5. He finished 10 spots higher than last year while shaving nearly a minute off his final time.
Adams, Jr. clinched the 18th spot after running a time of 27:47.7 and Dawkins crossed the line with a time of 28:15.1 to finish 23rd.
 
Aboeid and Smith both earned All-MEAC honors for their finishes. Norfolk State's Gidion Sigei and Kenneth Giles earned Outstanding Performer and Outstanding Coach respectively.
