DOVER, Del. --- The Delaware State women's volleyball team fell to the Howard University Bison 3-2 in a home Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) contest on Thursday.

Delaware State was paced by its middle blockers in tonight's match. Offensively,
Alondra Maldonado and
Sydney Lewis recorded double-digit kills with 13 and 10 respectively. Maldonado tallied one solo block and a pair of assisted blocks for a team-best 15 points. Lewis totaled 14.5 points after being apart of 5 assisted blocks.

Defensively,
Kelsie Dawson notched a match-high six assisted blocks. After adding one solo block and five kills, she finished the night with nine points.
Danielle Allen also joined in on the defensive efforts with five assisted blocks.

Outside hitter
Karen Cordero chipped in with 10 points by way of nine kills and a par of solo blocks.
Valeria Otero was one kill shy of a double-double as she landed nine and racked up 14 digs.

Malgorzata Andersohn (23) and
Alayna Lacy (17) combined for 40 of the team's 44 assists on the night. Andersohn tallied a double-double after laying out for 14 digs.

Jasmal Cruz dug Delaware State out of 19 Howard attack attempts.

Delaware State returns to action on Sunday for another MEAC matchup. The Hornets will face the Spartans of Norfolk State at Gill Gymnasium in Norfolk, Virginia. First serve is currently scheduled for 3 p.m.
