DSU’s COLLICK, SOWERBY AMONG ALL-MEAC COACHING GREATS

Dover, Del. (June 30, 2021) --- Former Delaware State head football coach Bill Collick, along with past Hornets' cross country coach Fred Sowerby  are among the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference  50th Anniversary Legends of Coaching, presented by The Home Depot.
Collick led the Hornets to five MEAC football titles during his tenure from 1985 to '96. Delaware State's all-time football wins leader with 81, he ranked second in MEAC coaching victories (48) when he left the post. Collick coached 63 All-MEAC First Team players, six NCAA Div. I-AA/FCS All-America honorees and 20 players who signed professional contracts. In 1985, he was selected as the MEAC Coach-of-the-Year by the conference and the Pigskin Club of Washington, D.C. Collick is also honored in the Delaware State and MEAC Halls of Fame.
In addition, Collick led the Delaware State wrestling team to its lone MEAC championship in 1984.
A member of the MEAC Hall-of-Fame, he's also a member of the DSU and Delaware Sports Museum halls of fame.
Sowerby led Delaware State to a combined 10 MEAC cross country championships, leading the Hornet women to conference titles in 1984, '85, '86, '87 and '90 and the men to first place finishes in 1984, '85, '86, '87 and '89.
