Dover, Del. (June 22, 2021) --- As the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) wraps up the celebration of its 50th anniversary, the conference has now opened voting on the league's Legends of Coaching.
To be considered for the ballot, candidates must have served as a head coach in the MEAC for a period of at least four (4) years, must have won at least one (1) MEAC championship and must have had a winning record.
Among the former and current Delaware State coaches on the ballot is the late Joe Burden, who led DSU men's track and field teams to a total of six MEAC championships in the 1980s and 90s.
Five-time MEAC championship coach Bill Collick is also on the list. Collick, who was second in league history with 48 MEAC wins when he stepped down in 1996, won or shared MEAC titles in 1985, '87', '88, '89 and '91.
Mary "Honey" Lamb-Bowman also represents the Hornets on the list. Lamb-Bowman led Delaware State to the MEAC volleyball championship in the team's first season in 1986.
Voting is open to the public and end on Monday, June 28.
