Dover, Del. (April 11, 2021) --- Delaware State held their first and only invite of the season last Wednesday afternoon.
Jalen Jasmin finishes first for the Hornets in the 100 meters crossing the finish line in 10.75 seconds. A season best for the freshman. Dante Artis (11.30 seconds), Nigel Reeves (11.32 seconds) and Jared Keaton (11.91) finishes 5th, 6th and 9th respectively.
DSU takes the top three spots in the 200 meters. Malachi Little finishes first with 21.84 seconds, his first of three top place finishes in the invite. Thomas Kalieta Jr. finishes second with 22.17 seconds and Dante Artis reappears in third with a time of 22.64 seconds, his second top three finish of the invite. Nigel Reeves finishes in sixth (23.27 seconds).
Delaware State also takes the top three spots in the 400 meters. Malachi Little finds himself in the top spot again with a time of 48.78 seconds. Followed closely by Julian Brown at 48.91 seconds and Thomas Kalieta Jr at 49.23 seconds. Â Krystjan Allen places fifth (52.94 seconds).
Nathanel Guy finishes first in the 800 meters. He outpaces the rest of the competition with a season's best time of 1:53.93. His time is the fourth fastest thus far in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC). Dante Jones places fifth in the same event with a time of 2:07.18.
Albert Norman comfortably places first in the 3000 meters with a time of 8:57.41, the only runner to finish under nine minutes in the event. Devin Smith finishes second in his debut in the event, with a time of 9:08.36. Gregory Moore places third with a career best time of 9:32.39.
Tayshaun Chisholm finishes first in the hurdles at 14.09 seconds. Kavante Dawson places third at 14.69 seconds. Jared Keaton finishes for with 15.26 seconds.
Kavante Dawson finishes second in the 400 hurdles with a time of 54.36 seconds. He led for most of the race but surrendered the lead at the stretch run, falling just .10 seconds behind the first-place hurdler. Jared Keaton (57.21 seconds) and Tayshaun Chisholm (1:03.27) finishes fourth and sixth, respectively.
Delaware State's 4 x 400 relay team comprising of Julian Brown, Thomas Kalieta Jr. Tayshaun Chisholm and Krystjan Allen finishes first, crossing the finish line in 3:14.92. The third fastest time by a relay team thus far in the MEAC.
The Hornets take the top three spots in the long jump. Elijah Mclaren finishes first with 6.97 meters. A career best distance for him. Karim Beatty finishes second with 6.92 meters and Jalen Jasmin rounds out the top three with 6.77 meters. Forrest Booker (6.43 meters) and his brother Elijah Booker (5.98 meters) finish sixth and seventh, respectively.
Thomas White finishes first in the triple jump at 13.79 meters. Elijah Mclaren finishes second at 13.60 meters. Â Forrest Booker places fourth at 13.28 meters.
Andrew Horne finishes second in the shot put at 13.74 meters. Emperor Campbell places fifth with a throw of 11.21 meters.
Emperor Campbell places fourth in the discus at 37.98 meters. Joseph Bailey finishes seventh at 29.33 meters.
Emperor Campbell finishes second in the hammer at 38.50 meters and Andrew Horne finishes third at 36.30 meters.
Thomas White places fourth with a toss of 38.19 in the Javelin. Joseph Bailey finishes seventh at 30.60 meters.
