Brookville, N.Y. (Nov. 27, 2021) --- Kyndall Davis came off the bench to lead five Long Island double-figure scorers with 21 points in the Sharks' wire-to-wire 99-65 victory over visiting Delaware State today. LIU won for the first time this season to stand at 1-4, while the Hornets dropped their second straight to fall to 2-4.
Davis was seven-for-11 from the field, including three-of-six on three-points shots, and perfect on four free throw attempts in 18 minutes.
Tyrn Flowers was second on the Sharks with 19 points, while teammates Eral Penn and Isaac Kante recorded double-doubles. Penn tallied 14 points and 10 rebounds. Kante had 10 points and a game-high 14 boards.
Delaware State's
Myles Carter (sr.) led all players with a career-high 25 points on 10-for-19 shooting from the field, including one three-pointer, and four free throws on four tries.
Carter has combined for 49 points in the last two games to raise his season average to a team-high 16.8 points per game.
D'Marco Baucum (jr.) was DSU's only other double-figure scorer with 12 points. He also led the Hornets with nine rebounds, five on the offensive glass.
The Hornets only trailed 14-9 before LIU ran off the next five points to give the Sharks a double-digit lead at 19-9.
LIU led by as many as 21 points on two occasions in the first half and held a 46-27 advantage at the break.
Delaware State could get no closer than 17 points in the second half.
Three-point shooting and rebounding were differences in the game. LIU nailed 14 threes on 38 attempts (36.8%), while the Hornets hit just five from the beyond the arc on 28 tries (17.9%).
The Sharks also held a 53-38 rebound advantage.
