DOVER, Del. --- The Delaware State University men's basketball team endured a back-and-forth battle with University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) but ultimately fell short in the end, 67-63.

Chris Sodom got the Hornets going early as he scored the game's first four points to help Delaware State jump out to an early 6-0 lead in the opening frame. The Hornets led by as many as 12 in the first half but the Seahawks began the comeback, trimming Delaware State's lead down five (36-31) heading into the break.

The Hornets didn't make it easy coming out of the half as the lead was increased to 8 (42-34) with 17:42 remaining in regulation. The Seahawks drained four three-pointers in the span of the game's next four minutes to power an 18-7 run that put the lead in their favor and never gave it back.

Fifth-year guard
Myles Carter recorded a 24-point 10-rebound double-double which led all players in both categories. Carter shot 11-of-19 from the field, drained both of his free throw attempts and took the ball away from UNCW a team-high two times.

Dominik Fragala and
Corey Perkins both reached double figures in points with 13 and 12 respectively. Perkins dished out a team-best four assists and recorded a steal in the loss. Â

Mike Okauru led UNCW with 22 points, sinking a game-best four three-pointers. He also tallied a game-high five assists for the Seahawks.

Delaware State returns to action on Saturday, November 27 on the road against Long Island University. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
