DOVER, Del. --- The Delaware State University women's basketball team hosted the University of Delaware Blue Hens for a Route 1 Rivalry Showdown in Memorial Hall and fell by a final score of 79-48 on Friday.

Delaware State held its own in the first quarter, scoring seven unanswered points to a 10-7 lead with 4:30 left in the opening frame of action. University of Delaware responded with a 13-1 run to close out the quarter with a 20-11 lead that was never surrendered.

The Hornets had three with double-digit points led by
Joy Watkins who tallied a team-best 13 points.
Unique Miller was one rebound shy of a double-double as she had 11 points and nine boards on the night.

Sianny Sanchez-Oliver recorded the third double-digit point performance of her freshman season as she chipped in with 10 points in the loss. Sanchez-Oliver came down with six boards and dished out a team-best four helpers.

Delaware State will take a break for the holiday and be back in action on Monday, November 29 for a road contest against the Towson Tigers. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
