Hornets hold off Bengals

DOVER, Del. --- The Delaware State University women's soccer team earned a 1-0 win at home over the University of Maine at Fort Kent Bengals on Wednesday.

As the final seconds were ticking away in the first half, Gabriela Cabrera (Elkridge, Md.) played a through ball from the middle of the field up inside the six-yard box to Mackenzie Burns (Fredericksburg, Va.) who then slipped the ball past the Bengals keeper giving the Hornets a 1-0 lead heading into the halftime break.

Sophomore netminder Ashley Maribo (Brick, New Jersey) recorded five saves to preserve the shutout win at home.
