Washington, D.C. (Mar. 5) - The Delaware State Lady Hornets drop their fourth game in the row, as they fall to the Howard Bison 76-71 at the Burr Gymnasium. The Lady Hornets end the regular season at 12-17 overall and 8-8 in the conference.

DSU's Lanayjha Ashe dishes the ball to DeMaurea Moore for a layup on their first possession. On the following possession, Janasia Law grabs the rebound after a missed three-pointer from Thornton. Law finds Sharajah Collins on the Fastbreak for a layup. Â The Lady Hornets cap off a 7-1 run, as Collins passes the ball to Ashe at the top of the key and she knocks down the three.
Delaware State leads by as many as five points in the quarter, after Janasia Law drives to the paint and finishes the layup despite the foul. Law completes the three-point play by making the free throw, giving DSU a 14-9 lead with 3:57 remaining in the first.
The Lady Hornets lead 16-14 when the Bison go a 7-2 run to take a 21-18 lead with 34 seconds left in the quarter. Â
DSU cuts the deficit to one, as Janasia Law gets a solid pick from DeMaurea Moore, freeing her up for a layup as time expires.
Delaware State could not buy a basket in the second quarter. DSU shoots an ice cold 7.1% from the field. Luckily for the Lady Hornets they shoot 6-6 from the free throw line and they only trailed by four with the score at 32-28 heading into halftime.
The Lady Hornets trail by six after Ashe hits two free throws at the 5:48 mark of the third quarter.
The Bison respond with a 12-4 run. They lead 53-39 after Ayonna Williams passes the ball to Brooklyn Fort-Davis for the mid-range jumper with 3:04 in the third.

DSU cuts the deficit to just eight at the 2:00 mark, as Janasia Law passes the ball to Lyric Turner for the three from the corner.
However Howard's Jayla Thornton answers right back with a three of her own, giving HU a 56-45 lead with 1:43 remaining. The Bison will hold onto an 11-point lead for the rest of the third and for most of the fourth quarter.
DSU makes a late run, a three pointer from Melissa Sam cuts the deficit down to four points with 10 seconds left, but the Lady Hornets run out of time.
Delaware State shoots just 25-of-79 (31.6%) from the field, including 3-of-27 (11.1%) on their three-point attempts.
Janasia Law records her second double-double of the season, as she tallies 13 points and a season high 13 rebounds. Law also adds four assists and ties a season high with four steals.
Melissa Sam scores 13 points in just 12 minutes.
Tierra Floyd, Sharajah Collins and Lyric Turner score 10 points each and Lanayjha Ashe adds eight points and seven rebounds.
Howard University shoots 25-of-66 (37.9%) from the field and 7-of-22 (31.8%) from beyond the arc.
Ayonna Williams and Jayla Thornton score 25 points apiece. Brooklyn Fort-Davis records a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The offical pairing for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament will not be released, however DSU projects to finish at the #6 seed and will presumably face off against #3 seed Morgan State in the quarterfinals of the MEAC Tournament. The game is scheduled for Thursday March 12th. Tip-off is for 6:00 pm.
