HORNETS NO MATCH FOR LANCERS IN HOME CONTEST

Dover, Del. (Feb. 17, 2020) –Longwood scored seven consecutive goals to break open a close game, defeating Delaware State 22-4 in a women's lacrosse contest today.
Haley Moomau scored five goals and three players added four goals each to lead the Lancers.
Longwood's Kaitiin Luccarelli had four goals and two assists for a game-high six points.
Freshmen Gwenna Gentle and Jordan Santana scored two goals each to account for Delaware State's scoring.
Gentle and Santana each has four goals to lead the Hornets after two games this season.
After Longwood scored two goals in the first four minutes to take the early lead, Delaware State answered with three of the next three scores, one each for Gentle and Santana, to pull to within 3-2.
Longwood responded by tallying the next seven goals to open up a 10-3.
Moomau and Luccarelli scored two goals each to lead the Longwood rally.
Delaware State 10-3 at the half and was outscored 12-1 in the final 30 minutes.
The Hornets were outshot 39-12 in the game.
Delaware State will play its next six games n the road, beginning with a visit to American University in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday (Feb. 19).
The Hornets are not home again until Mar. 20 vs. Akron.
