AMERICAN TOO MUCH FOR DSU IN W LAX CONTEST

Washington, D.C. (Feb. 19, 2020) --- American scored the first 15 goals en route to an 18-3 victory over visiting Delaware State in a women's lacrosse  contest today.
Emma Vinall scored six goals and assisted on another, while Casey Harkins had two goals and seven assists for a game-high nine points to lead the 2-0 Eagles.
Gwenna Gentle (fr.) had two of the three Delaware State goals on two shots to give her six goals in the Hornets' three games this season.
Emily McGill also scored her second of the season for the Hornets in the contest.
Vinall scored the first of American's three goals in the first 96 seconds of the game. She scored her fourth goal of the contest to give the Eagles an 8-0 lead at the 13:41 mark of the opening period.
American led 12-0 when Vinall scored her fifth with 5:45 left in the first period.
The Eagles led 15-0 at the half.
The Hornets finally got on the board on McGill's goal with 27:16 left to play. Gentle scored her first goal about two minutes later to cut American's lead to 15-2.
The Eagles led 17-2 when Gentle tallied her second goal with 5:45 left to play.
Delaware State (0-3) was outshot 35-7 in the game.
Hornet goal keeper Allie St. Pierre (0-2) played the first half, surrendering 15 goals, while recording six saves. Moe Brown was between the pipes in the second half for DSU, allowing three goals and turning away three shots.
Delaware State is idle until visiting Howard on Mar. 1 in the Nation's Capital. The Hornets posted their lone 2019 win against Howard 14-11 at DSU's Alumni Stadium.
DSU's next home game is Mar. 20 vs. Akron.
