Landover, Md. (Jan. 18) – The Delaware State Hornets finish in first place overall with a team score of 119.5 points at the Terrapin Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Delaware State's 'A' team wins the 4 x 400 relay with a time of 3-minutes-24.58 seconds (3:24.58). Their performance scores 10 points for the Hornets. They receive an additional six points from their 'B' relay team who finishes in third with a time of 3:35.59.
Delaware State scores 19 points in the 200 Hurdles.
Dante Artis led the way for DSU as he places second with 23.14 seconds.
Kavante Dawson finishes in third with a time of 23.21 seconds, while
Malachi Pankey crosses the finish line in 23.63 seconds for a fourth-place finish.
Keith Washington finishes in second place (first amongst collegiate runners) with a time of 51.63 seconds. His performance scores ten points for Delaware State.
Kavante Dawson finishes second in the 60-meter hurdles, as he crosses the finish line in 8.52 seconds. Dawson's effort gives DSU eight points.
Elijah McLaren crosses the finish line in 8.64 seconds for a third-place finish in the same event, scoring six points for Delaware State. In addition,
Jared Keaton (8.95 seconds) and
Thomas White (9.01 seconds) finishes in sixth and eighth place respectively.
Ibrahim Bangura finishes in third place with a time of 6.99 seconds in the 60 meters. His third-place finish gives the Hornets six points and it is a season's best time for the freshman.
Kavante Dawson also places in the top ten with a time of 7.26 seconds
Thomas White places second in the triple jump, first amongst collegiate jumpers (scoring 10 points), with 14.18 meters, Elijah Mclaren finishes third (scoring eight points) in the same event with 14.12 meters and
Karim Beatty rounded out the top ten with 12.27 meters.
Robert Duncan finishes third, second amongst collegiate throwers (scoring eight points) in the weight throw, with 15.29 meters.
Donte Rolley-Williams' time of 1:24.97 seconds gives him a fourth-place finish (scoring five points) in the 600 meters and
Julian Brown's time of 1:25.23 gives him a fifth-place finish (scoring four points).
Dante Artis continues scoring points for the Hornets. The sophomore finishes fifth (scoring four points) in the 300-meter dash with a time of 37.13. The scoring did not stop in the 300-meter dash, as
Kendall Leach finishes in sixth place (scoring three points).
Hasan Gill places fourth, second amongst collegiate runners, (scoring five points) with a time of 16:50.30 in the 5000 meters.
Elijah Mclaren finishes fifth, fourth amongst collegiate jumpers (scoring five points) in the Long Jump with 6.52 meters.
Karim Beatty also places in the top ten with 6.14 meters.
