JAMES MADISON TOO MUCH FOR LADY HORNETS

Harrisonburg, Va. (Dec. 17) --- The Delaware State Lady Hornets were defeated by the James Madison Dukes 83-64. DSU falls to 4-7 on the season.

Janasia Law got the Lady Hornets on the board early in the contest, sinking a three pointer one minute into the game. Two possessions later DSU swingman Lyric Turner drained a three-pointer, giving DSU a 6-4 lead, with 7:50 left in the first quarter. One minute later, DSU forward Miajah Bullock scored a layup on the fastbreak to gain a four-point lead.

Following a 5-0 run by James Madison, Miajah Bullock converted on a three-point play the 'ole fashion way' to retake the lead at 11-9 with 5:42 left in the quarter.

After the Dukes took a 16-13 lead, DSU guard Sharajah Collins and DSU forward DeMaurea Moore scored on back to back possessions to lead 17-16 with 2:00 minutes left.

However, James Madison would score the final four points of the quarter and lead 20-17 heading into the second quarter.

There were eight lead changes in the first ten minutes of play.

The lead would change four more times in the second. James Madison would eventually take control, as they went on a 13-1 run capped off by a three-pointer from their guard Kamiah Smalls, with just two seconds left in the half . Smalls three-pointer gave the Dukes a 39-30 lead heading into halftime.

Kamiah Smalls scored a game high 29 points, one-point shy of her career high.

The game got out of reach in the third quarter, as James Madison opened the second half on a 11-2 run to lead 50-33 with 7:37 remaining. The Lady Hornets cut the deficit to just 11 on two occasions during the quarter but would get no closer.

James Madison led by as many as 25 points with 4:38 left in the game.

Delaware State shot 23-of-58 (39.7%) from the field and 8-of-22 (36.4%) on three-point attempts.

Janasia Law and Lyric Turner scored 13 points each to lead the Lady Hornets.

James Madison made 29-of-70 (41.4%) on field goal attempts and 11-of-36 (30.6%) on their three-pointers.
