DSU MEN SIXTH, WOMEN FIFTH IN CAPPY ANDERSON INVITATIONAL

(Prince Anne, Md.) -- Saturday, DSU's Preston DeMarreau for the men and Ketsia Dornevil for the women led the way for the Hornets in Saturday's Cappy Anderson Invitational this past weekend.

In the case of DeMarreau he finished 18th out of 40 runners with a time of 29:34.79, as the Hornets finished sixth with 146 points. Junior Bryan Pointer and sophomore Michael Cummings, on the other hand, were the next Delaware State runners to cross the finish line placing 31st (32:05.99) and 32nd (32:23.76).

Winning the race, meanwhile, was UMES (21 points), led by Khaliil Kinni Rmidi clocking a 25:26.87 to win the race.

In the women's race, Delaware State finished fifth with 132 total points. Senior Ketsia Dornevil was the first Hornet to complete the 5K course with a time of 19:44.70, followed by Nicole Gazzola (21:26.55) and freshman Erin Cooper (21.34.67) finishing 25th and 26th respectively for Delaware State.

UMES was the women's team winner with 37 total points, as Morgan State finished second with 49 points, led by Barbora Blahutova placing first (18:33.06).

DSU will back in action Saturday, Oct. 3 with the second Hornet Invitational of the season in Smyrna, Del.
