(Dover, Del.) – Hosting its second competition of the season, both the men (53 points) and women (61 points) of the Delaware State cross country program finished third in the Hornet Invitational #2 this past Saturday.
On the men's side, the UMES Hawks (39 points) finished first ahead of Morgan State (46 points), DSU and Coppin State (77 points) with four runners placing in the top 10.
In the case of DSU, sophomore Terrell Oliver led the way for the Hornets by crossing the finish line at 28.31.10 to place fourth. Additionally, three runners placed in the top 15 for the Hornets in freshman Marc Garduno (10th – 30:51.68), junior Brandon Barnes (11th – 31:23.73) and freshman Michael Cummings (12th – 32:07.43).
Meanwhile, Morgan State (15 points) won the women's portion of Saturday's competition with five runners placing in the top five, led by Ashley Seymour's top time of 18:21.64. The rest field featured UMES (59 points) finishing second and Coppin State (102 points) placing fourth.
Leading the way for the Hornets was sophomore Anaya Reid's ninth place finish with a time of 20:58.95, whereas junior Ashley Robinson (11th - 21:23.50), sophomore Brianna Sims (21:33.96), sophomore Beatrice Wolo (14th – 21:54.29) and sophomore Rayanna Relerford (1522:11.27) all placed in the top 15 for DSU.
Coming up next, the Hornets will host the Delaware State Meet this Friday at 4 p.m., in what will be the final competition before the MEAC Championship on Saturday, Oct. 26 in Princess Anne, Md.
