Dover, Del. (May 30, 2010) --- Delaware State University's men's outdoor 1600-meter relay team will compete in the NCAA national championships for the second straight year.
The Hornet 1600-meter relay team of Burton Clarke, Ryan Carter, Kevaughn Laviea and Donte Holmes earned a trip to the 2010 NCAA national championships after finishing seventh at the East Regional in Greensboro, N.C., with a time of 3:06.06 this weekend. The top 12 teams in the NCAAs four regions advance to the national championship.
The 2010 NCAA nationals are set for June 9-12 in Eugene, Oregon.
Delaware State, the 2010 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference outdoor 1600-meter relay champion, is making its second straight appearance in the NCAA national championships. The Hornets fell short of the national finals in 2009. DSU was 10th in the '09 preliminaries. The top eight teams qualify for the championship race, and earn All-America status.
