HORNETS FALL TO RED FLASH IN FOUR

DOVER, Del. (September 29th) - With All-MEAC senior middle hitter Cassandra Joyner lost to injury, the DSU Hornets were unable to the St. Francis Red Flash falling 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 24-26, 25-18) at Memorial Hall on the Delaware State campus Tuesday evening.

"What we saw tonight is that the rest of our team needs to step up and play better when one piece goes down," said head coach Renee Arnold.  "No one played well, and this was an opportunity for us to show our depth and ability, and we didn't take advantage."

The Red Flash (3-13) notched 53 kills on a .339 attack percentage, and also outdug the Hornets 49-46.  The loss overshadows a double-double for reigning Yellowbook Delaware State Athlete of the Week Martina Ferrari, who picked up 39 assists and 13 digs for the match.  Erica Tajchman and Sarah Wheatcroft both picked up double digit kills for the Hornets, scoring with 14 and 12 attacks respectively.

Elisa Herrmann also registered 3 aces, keeping her at 0.65 aces per set, which stands 12th in the NCAA entering the weekend.

The Hornets (9-10) are back in action next Tuesday as they travel to Lehigh for a 7 p.m. match. The availability of live stats will be released later.
