Dover, DE ? Sophomore forward Frisco Sandidge got his first career double-double leading all scorers and rebounders with 16 points and 11 rebounds, as the Delaware State Hornets defeated the Wildcats of Bethune Cookman 49-44. It was the Hornets second straight win improving to 9-4 in the MEAC and 12-13 overall, while the Wildcats dropped to 4-9 and 10-17.
The Hornets never trailed in the contest and led 25-11 at the half after holding the Wildcats to 33.3% (4-12) shooting from the floor. The biggest lead of the game was at the 4:53 mark when Jerel Chavis connected on a three pointer given the Hornets a commanding 42-26 lead. In the final four minutes of the game, the Wildcats put together a 16-6 run that cut the lead to seven 48-42 on a three pointer by Joey Woods with 20 seconds left, but it was to little to late.
Also scoring in double figures for the Hornets was Roy Bright with 14 points. The Hornets won the battle of the boards 27-24 and forced the Wildcats into 16 turnovers.
BCU was led in scoring by John Holmes who finished with 10 points.
The Hornets will return to action on Monday, when they host the Rattlers of Florida A&M at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 25th.
