Edna Piper enters her 18th year as football administrative assistant and is the first female operations/travel coordinator for the DSU football program. Working closely with head coach Kenneth Carter, her responsibilities include football office management, monitoring and maintaining the football budget, assisting the football staff with recruiting, camps and other football related projects. "Ms. P," as she is affectionately called by the team and staff, is also the liaison to many campus offices.
Piper received training at Delaware Technical Community College in Computer Information Systems and had a 20-plus-year career working with technical equipment and computers before retiring as a scan operations administrator.
After spending some time in retirement, she returned to school for refresher courses in office practices, taxes and accounting. She used those skills to manage an accounting and tax office for several years before her sister (formerly an accounting professor at Delaware State University) urged her to give back to Delaware State University the alma mater of many of her family members and friends.
Ms. P has three daughters, two sons-in-law, three granddaughters, two grandsons, one great grandson and one great granddaughter who all reside in Dover, Del.
