Anthony Missick

Missick, a former University of Kentucky and Canadian Football League standout, joined the Delaware State staff in March 2018.
During the fall 2021 season, he helped lead Delaware State to a number one MEAC ranking in total defense at 314.6 yards allowed per game. In addition, the Hornets were also number one in fewest passing yards allowed at 18.8 per contest, while tying for the conference high with 14 interceptions. The 19 total turnovers forced last season were the most by the Hornets since recording 22 in 2013, and the 14 INTs were the highest since 15 by the 2008 squad.
Delaware State was second in the MEAC in turnover margin in 2021 at +6 (0.55 pg).
The ’21 Hornet defense also featured All-MEAC First Team defensive back Esaias Guthrie (DB), also a HERO Sports FCS Freshman All-America honoree. Corner back Charles Peeler was a 2021 All-MEAC Second Team selection, while Jawain Granger (DB) and Romell Harris-Freeman (DB) were All-MEAC Third Team picks.   
Delaware State safety Jahad Neibauer was an All-MEAC selection on 2019 and 2018, while Hornet cornerback Keyjuan Selby earned all-conference honors in 2018.  
Prior to joining the Hornets, Missick served as defensive backs coach for the Canadian Football League Blue Bombers since June 2016.
During the 2015 CFL season, Missick was defensive backs coach for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Prior to joining the Riders, he spent four seasons in the same capacity with the Calgary Stampeders. In 2014, defensive backs Brandon Smith and Jamar Wall were named CFL All-Stars as the Stamps racked up 18 interceptions. Missick won his first Grey Cup (CFL Championship) with the Stamps that season.
Prior to joining the Stampeders, Missick spent nine seasons coaching in the Arena Football League. He began his coaching career in 2000 as defensive coordinator of the Richmond Speed. He was named head coach of the Cincinnati Jungle Kats in 2007.
In 2008, Missick joined Saint Paul’s Collegiate where he served as linebackers coach and assistant head coach.
As a player, he attended the University of Kentucky before turning pro with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles. He went on to play five seasons in the AFL where he collected 197 tackles and 12 interceptions.
