BALTIMORE, Md. --The Delaware State Hornets took a 9-8 lead into the seventh inning, but could not hold on and fell 11-10 to the Coppin State Eagles Sunday.
Kristin White (3-7) took the loss in the circle for Delaware State (10-16, 3-6).
In the batter's box, the Hornets were led by Karly Cain, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a double, a walk and three RBIs. Nevaeh Terrell put together a standout performance at the plate as well, going 2-for-3 with a double, a walk and two RBIs. Mi'Shon King also chipped in for Delaware State, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a triple.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hornets were trailing 6-0 in the second inning when they first put runs on the board. Delaware State scored three runs in the inning, highlighted by a two-RBI double from Cain.
The Hornets kept the deficit at 6-3 before closing the gap further in the third. Delaware State picked up a pair of runs in the inning. which tightened the Eagles lead to 6-5.
Coppin State built their lead to 8-5 before the Delaware State offense got going, reducing that lead to 8-6 in the fifth. The Hornets scored once on an RBI single.
Delaware State held the Eagles off the board before taking the lead in the sixth. The three-run inning for the Hornets was punctuated by a two-RBI double from Terrell, bringing the Delaware State advantage to 9-8.
The Hornets kept Coppin State without a run before expanding their lead to 10-8 the following inning. Delaware State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of Cain. The Hornets were unable to hold the lead, as Coppin State scored three times in the bottom half of the seventh to grab the 11-10 win.
