HARRISONBURG, VA --The Delaware State volleyball team lost to the William & Mary Tribe 3-0 (14-25, 15-25, 17-25) Saturday at JMU Convocation Center.
The non-conference loss moved Delaware State to 4-8 on the season.
Emma Patmon finished with seven kills on the day to lead the Hornets offense. got 7 digs from Gerren Tomlin to lead them defensively.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Hornets fell behind early, losing a tough first set 25-14. Delaware State trailed by as many as 11 points as William & Mary never surrendered the lead in a set that was notted up zero times before the Tribe took control.
SET 2 | Delaware State then dropped set two 25-15 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. The Hornets fell behind on the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Delaware State could not win set three and was swept by William & Mary. The Hornets fell behind on the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before falling in the set 25-17.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Hornets found themselves in an early deficit, dropping the first set 25-20. JMU grabbed the advantage for good at 14-13 in a set that was tied up seven times before the Dukes took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | Delaware State fell in set two 25-6, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. The Hornets lost the first point and never clawed back into the lead before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Delaware State couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Hornets dropped a back-and-forth battle, losing 25-23 in a set that featured six lead changes and was tied 14 times. Neither team had a lead of more than four points along the way.
