LORETTO, Pennsylvania - Delaware State used a big 299-yard performance on the ground, including 111 yards from James Jones, and two rushing touchdowns to pick up a 39-10 win against Saint Francis (PA) Saturday afternoon on the road at DeGol Field.

The triumph improved Delaware State's record to 3-1 on the season while the Red Flash fell to 0-4.

Jones led all Hornets rushers with 111 yards and three touchdowns in the contest, picking up 15.9 yards per carry. Marquis Gillis also added 70 yards on the ground, averaging 4.7 yards per carry.

Kyree Benton reeled in two catches for 45 yards.

led the Delaware State defensive effort, collecting four tackles, 1.0 TFL, one forced fumble, and one recovered fumble. Christian Garrett added one interception and Lonnell McCall II had one interception in the win.

The Hornets won the turnover battle in Saturday's game, forcing three turnovers while coughing the ball up one time, with Delaware State turning those takeaways into 19 points. Delaware State had a big showing on the ground, totaling 299 rushing yards while averaging 5.6 yards per carry and out-rushing Saint Francis (PA) by 240 yards. Delaware State converted on 53.3 percent of third-down attempts on the day. The Hornets also went 1-for-1 on fourth down.

Delaware State's defense held up against Saint Francis (PA)'s offense, giving up 324 total yards. The Hornets defense disrupted the Saint Francis (PA) passing game on the way to grabbing two interceptions and breaking up three Red Flash passes.

Delaware State grabbed a 6-0 lead over Saint Francis (PA) after scoring the game's first points with 9:02 left in the first quarter.Another Hornets score then increased the lead to 13-0.

Delaware State continued to extend its lead, scoring again with 13:48 left in the second quarter to go ahead 20-0.The Hornets kept building their advantage after Saint Francis (PA) narrowed the gap to 20-3, scoring again to go ahead 26-3.

Delaware State continued to expand its lead after Saint Francis (PA) made it a 26-10 game, scoring again with 1:37 remaining in the fourth quarter make the score 33-10.The Hornets kept scoring, tacking on a touchdown to extend their advantage to 39-10. Neither team scored again in the game.
