Hornets Come Up Short 4-1 Against UT Martin; Finish Day Three of Tennesse Invataional

King Racks Up 3 Hits

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --Freshman Mi'Shon King strung together three hits, but the Delaware State Hornets fell to the UT Martin Skyhawks 4-1 Sunday.

Sophomore Kristin White (1-3) started and took the loss in the circle for Delaware State (3-7).

In addition to her three hits, King had a double to lead the Hornets. Junior Chandler Martin put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Freshman Zaelyn Harding also contributed for Delaware State, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Trailing 1-0, the Hornets first put runs on the board in the fifth inning. Delaware State got an RBI single from Martin, scoring Harding from second base. UT Martin then scored three times over the remaining two innings to break the tie and grab the 4-1 win.
 

GAME NOTES

» King led the Hornets, compiling three base hits in the ballgame.
» Delaware State's highest scoring inning was the fifth, when it pushed one run across.
» Delaware State pitchers limited UT Martin to just 2-for-12 (.167) with runners in scoring position.
