Hornets End 0-2 In Day One of Tennesse Invitational

Game 1 vs. UT Martin
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --
The Delaware State Hornets were not able to notch a run against UT Martin on Friday and were shut out 17-0 by the Skyhawks.

Freshman Allyson Fonollosa (1-1) got the ball to start for Delaware State (3-3) and took the loss.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Delaware State did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Hornets went 0-for-1 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the third, when freshman Zaelyn Harding made it into scoring position with two outs.
 

GAME NOTES

» Delaware State pitchers faced 31 UT Martin hitters in the game, allowing six ground balls and four fly balls while striking out two.
» Harding led the Hornets at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a double.


Game 2 vs. University of Tennessee

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --The Delaware State Hornets ended 13-0 versus the No. 7 Tennessee Volunteers.

Sophomore Kristin White (1-2) got the ball to start for Delaware State (3-4) and took the loss.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Delaware State managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 1-for-4 with runners in scoring position. The Hornets last got a runner on third in the fourth, when junior Mianna Lopez made it 60 feet away from scoring with two outs.
 

GAME NOTES

» Delaware State pitchers faced 31 Tennessee hitters in the game, allowing seven ground balls and four fly balls while striking out one.
» Lopez led the Hornets at the plate, going 1-for-2 with a double.
